Forged from the steel manufacturing and ship building detritus of a post-industrial Baltimore, Hess Industries was founded in 1986 with the goal of designing and building architectural elements and one-of-a-kind fine art furniture. The Hess Industries Team of craftsmen is committed to honoring the inherent beauty found in materials like metal, wood, glass, concrete and stone as well as drawing inspiration from discarded materials rescued from barns, attics, alleys, debris piles and scrap yards.
Over 35 years ago, artist David Hess began making sculpture and furniture from wood, metal, and found objects. Eli Hess started welding in kindergarten and gained a background in architecture to compliment his studio craft. Teaming up together, the pair explore science, technology, and the relationship between human beings and their environment through public art, commissioned furniture, and gallery shows.
